KMCC Malappuram defeated TYC Trissur 1-0 to win the 9th Qatar Indian Football Forum (QIFF) Tournament for the Western Union City Exchange trophy at Doha Stadium.
Rameshan of KMCC Malappuram was adjudged the best player of the tournament, while KMCC striker Sudheesh, who scored eight goals in the tournament, received the top scorer award. TYC Trissur’s Shabeer was declared the best goal-keeper of the tournament.
Defence attache of Indian Embassy D Ravikumar, General Directorate of Traffic’s Captain Riyadh Ahmmed Salih, Qatar Football Association’s Hamad al-Kuwari, Jamal Darjani, Sara Odeh, coast guards department’s Ibrahim al-Malki, Khalid Tamim and Community Police’s Lt. Jamal Abdul Majeed attended the closing ceremony.
CEO of City Exchange Sharaf P Hameed inaugurated the closing ceremony which was also attended by the leaders of Malayalee community in Qatar, office bearers of various organisations and representatives of sponsors.
On the occasion, QIFF was honored by Interior Ministry of Qatar for conducting such a big tournament in Doha. President of QIFF Shamsudheen Olakara was presented with a memento by Riyadh Ahmed Saleh.
Olakara and the organising committee thanked the QFA and Doha Stadium authorities for providing the facilities. He also thanked the security department of MOI, HMC, Embassy of India, sponsors and media persons.
“With this tournament the Qatar Indian Football Forum has proved its capacity,” Olakara said. A Fully-packed stadium, sports dance of the MJ-5 fame Mumbai team and the magical football skills of the 15-year-old Kerala boy Shahid Safar made the closing day ceremony enjoyable.
