HBKU, Siemens sign pact to provide scholarships

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF), and Siemens have signed an agreement to provide scholarships for exceptional students who are majoring in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, business administration, computer science, and information systems.
Dr Ahmad Hasnah, president of HBKU, and Fatih Sakiz, CEO of Siemens in Qatar, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Siemens is a global technology powerhouse that has stood for engineering excellence, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality for more than 165 years. By holding the ceremony, HBKU was recognising the generous support being offered by Siemens in Qatar to its own students as well as to students from its partner universities across Education City.
“Our participation in the HBKU scholarship programme underlines our long-term commitment to developing exceptional talent in Qatar,” said Fatih Sakiz. “Siemens has been a development partner to Qatar for more than 40 years, and we are proud to be continuing our support of the country’s National Vision 2030 with this education initiative.”
The HBKU scholarship programme was designed to nurture potential, recognise excellence, and support students studying at HBKU and its partner universities. Committed to developing local and international partnerships towards an enhanced educational system in Qatar, HBKU places inestimable value on collaboration among institutions, communities, and industries, and is proud to have a wide-range of partnerships both in Qatar and worldwide.
Dr Hasnah said: “Thanks to the support of organisations such as Siemens, the HBKU Scholarship programme is able to provide quality education opportunities for talented students interested in furthering their studies in Education City. By supporting exceptional students, we hope they will be a source of positive impact on their communities and set an example for others who would like to unlock their potential and further their studies.”
