GCC motorist fined in road crash case
A Doha Criminal Court has fined a GCC citizen QR20,000 and ordered the suspension of her driving licence for two months for causing injuries to four persons travelling in another car, including the one driving it.
The court also ordered her to pay a sum of QR86,000, in collaboration with the insurance company concerned, as compensation for one of the injured as the accident left him with 43% disability, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
Investigation showed that the woman was driving recklessly, due to which she lost control over the vehicle and it swerved to the other side of the road, hitting another car.
It also hit an advertisement board in the process.
The person driving the other car sustained injuries in the accident along with three other occupants.
Company ordered to pay blood money
A Doha court has ordered a company to pay QR200,000 as blood money to the kin of an employee who had drowned while cleaning a swimming pool, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
Relatives of the deceased had filed a case against the firm, which provides various services, after their pleas for compensation with the company did not yield the desired results.
The court upheld the rights of the relatives after going through reports pertaining to the incident and the testimony of the victim’s co-workers. A colleague of the worker testified that the latter was cleaning a swimming pool when he drowned in it due to some technical flaws. Forensic evidence confirmed that the worker was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which meant the death occurred due to work.
