Doha
Qatar will be affected by an extension of a high pressure system from the northern Arabian Peninsula between Thursday night (December 3) and next Wednesday (December 9), accompanied by northwesterly fresh to strong winds over all areas, the Meteorology Department has said.
The wind speed is forecast to range between 15 and 25 knots inshore with wind gusts reaching 37 knots at times. In offshore areas, the wind speed will range from 20 to 35 knots, reaching 40 knots at times, the weather report states.
During this period, a slight decrease in wind speed is expected on Monday and Tuesday.
The Met department has also said there is a warning for rough seas, with waves expected to be in the range of 8-12ft, going up to 15ft in some areas.
In addition, low and medium-level cloud formation is expected at intervals with a chance of isolated rains over some areas.
The northerly winds are expected to lead to a drop in temperatures during this period, especially at night and early in the morning, according to the weather report.
The maximum temperature in Doha is expected to range between 20C and 23C and the minimum between 15C and 18C.
The weather is forecast to be cooler in the southern and open areas with the minimum temperature likely to drop below 15C.
