ExxonMobil Qatar honours education partners

ExxonMobil Qatar honoured its local education partners at a gala dinner in Doha recently.
The event took place during the fourth Qatar University ExxonMobil Teachers Academy, a collaboration between the National Centre for Educator Development (NCED), Qatar University (QU) and ExxonMobil Qatar that is held in Doha on an annual basis.
QU, Teach for Qatar, the Supreme Education Council, Injaz Qatar, Qatar Foundation, WISE, Teaching and Learning Department and Qatar Petroleum were the honoured guests at the event.
A special video created for the evening captured the collaboration between ExxonMobil Qatar and
each of these organisations.
The event also marked the conclusion of this year’s Qatar University ExxonMobil Teachers Academy, and was attended by 50 primary school teachers who took part in the week-long professional development programme specially designed to enhance their maths and science teaching skills.
Maharaty, an initiative by HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, also assigned 10 Grade 3 science and maths teachers to attend the academy.
As was the case at last year’s academy, the NCED-College of Education at QU provided math and science specialists who attended the entire week of events and gave the teachers direct
insight into its mission.
Alistair Routledge, president and general manager for ExxonMobil Qatar, welcomed the gala dinner guests and said: “We are honoured and grateful for the support of our partners who are with us tonight, and who share the common goal of building a sustainable future for our
children.”
QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham said: “The Qatar University ExxonMobil Teachers Academy serves as a platform to engage educators in professional development and equip them with the skills and confidence they need to motivate their students and encourage them to become active learners and pursue careers in math and science.”
