Davon shines with 21 points as Rayyan thrash Qatar Sports Club

Dominic Davon scored a game-high 21 points as Al Rayyan thrashed Qatar Sports Club 86-57 in the Qatar Basketball League at the Al Gharafa Stadium last evening.
In a one-sided match, Al Rayyan raced to a 14-2 lead in the first five minutes and kept on pressing the accelerator giving their rivals no chance of staging a fightback.
Davon scored thrice from three-pointers in the eight attempts he had, besides seven assists and five steals.
Qatar veteran Yaseen Ismail was also in his element, scoring 17 points in the 31 minutes he saw action, 15 of his points coming from field goals. Quintin Immanuel and Hassan Mohamed chimed in for the winners with 15 and 13 points respectively.
For Qatar Sports Club, Anthony White fought a lone battle with 19 points, while Ahmed Aqel had 10.
In the second match of the day, Al Arabi walloped neighbours Al Ahli 70-53 with Narcellius Soyebo and Edward O’Brien scoring 29 and 24 respectively.
Al Arabi led the match throughout and at one stage in the final quarter enjoyed a 63-43 advantage, with which Al Ahli couldn’t cope.
For Al Ahli, Jimmy Williams was the top-scorer with 23, while Lamar Demond had 10.
Today Al Sadd play Al Khor, while El Jaish meet Al Gharafa.
