More than 55 exhibitions will be held in Qatar in 2016, a senior official of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) said.
"A large number of these exhibitions are to be hosted at the newly-built Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC)," QTA's head of exhibitions Hamad al-Abdan said.
"Owing to its proximity to the major business centres of Doha and better parking facilities among other advantages, a large number of inquiries are coming these days to host exhibitions at the sprawling DECC," al-Abdan said at a press conference convened to announce the schedule of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2016.
DECC, which has parking spaces for more than 2,000 cars, has many of the country's prominent hotels in its vicinity, the QTA official said and hoped that the new facility would help Qatar attract many global-level expos and conventions.
"DECC's strategic location had gone down well with the participating companies and the participants at the recent Civil Defence Exhibition," al-Abdan said adding dining facilities are an added attraction of the new venue.
