The new health strategy for 2017-2022 will be launched in January 2017, HE the Minister of Public Health Abdullah bin Khalid al-Qahtani has said.
“We have identified seven goals and 37 projects for the new health strategy and the present focus is on developing the strategy for the next six years," he said.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Qatar International Medical Devices and Healthcare Exhibition (QMED) 2015, the minister said that the number of new facilities to be built in the next decade will be announced in the next plan.
The minister said that 2016 will be a year of expansion. “At least five new hospitals are to be opened in the next year, which will also see new health centres and a lot of expansion in other facilities.”
The minister stated that the Qatar Health Strategy 2011-2016 has been highly successful. “We have already completed 71 targets in the strategy. The rest will be completed by next year. Then, we will be focusing on the new strategy for the next six years.”
He earlier inaugurated QMED at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
According to conference organisers, at least 15 specialised international and local speakers in the sports medicine sector are attending.
QMED attracts a number of leading names in the Qatari healthcare sector which emphasises its foremost role as an ideal communicative platform to enhance the communication among those concerned with healthcare in Qatar.
The first edition of QMED has been able to attract a distinctive number of participants from countries, including China, India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UK, the US, Thailand, and Turkey. There are also two large pavilions from Turkey and China.
The event provides an ideal platform to exchange experiences and knowledge, communicate to build efficient partnership and discuss the promising business opportunities.
QMED has brought together the best companies within the medical and healthcare sector, apart from regional, local and international providers, agents and suppliers.
