The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Ladies Forum, in partnership with Ooredoo, has held a five-day community development workshop in Doha under the Benevolent Entrepreneurs programme.
Held under the theme of “Development Project Management”, the workshop was attended by 14 Qatari university students and graduates who look forward to initiating their professional and charitable careers.
At the final session, certificates were distributed among the participants by QRCS.
The workshop was designed to empower young Qatari women professionally by preparing them to start up sustainable development projects; train them in the skills of planning, execution, follow-up and how to compose project financing proposals; and teach them the best strategies to overcome challenges, turn weaknesses into strengths, and ensure transparency and accountability, a statement explained.
The guest speaker at the workshop was Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of public and community relations, Ooredoo.
Other participants included owners of Qatari youth initiatives such as Hessa al-Dosari (Enlighten Me campaign), Al-Reem al-Kaabi (Call for Benevolence) and Dr Lateefa al-Mughaiseeb and Asmaa al-Sahli (Merciful Qataris).
Al-Kuwari emphasised Ooredoo’s commitment to community development and contribution to the efforts that promote human development in its host countries through its achievements in telecommunications and social responsibility.
“Inspired by its deep interest in humanitarianism and CSR, Ooredoo offers diverse forms of support to charities and nonprofits in Qatar, in view of their significant role in helping many needy people,” she noted.
Ooredoo, al-Kuwari added, would continue to sponsor Benevolent Entrepreneurs in its community development endeavours, ensuring integration with other humanitarian players and constituting an example of a successful government-NGO partnership for the best interest of all society members.
The Benevolent Entrepreneurs programme is a training initiative targeted at Qatari young women in order to develop their skills and help them contribute to their society and undertake their social role in serving humanitarian causes, with a special focus on leadership potential.
