A delegation from Al Maha Medical, as part of its periodic inspection, has visited Al Amal Hospital in Reyhanli, Turkey.
Qatar Charity (QC) has helped establish the hospital and is currently contributing to its
operation.
The co-operation is seen as an introduction to future joint work in offering medical consultation and contributing to studies, relief plans and solutions, according to a statement.    
This three-day visit was part of an evaluation of progress in the medical services offered by the hospital. Its purpose is to identify the hospital’s needs for drugs, devices and medical staff. Also, it is meant to help prepare an annual plan to support the hospital in 2016.
QC’s office in Turkey and Dr Hamdi Othman, Al Amal Hospital director-general, received the delegation. Dr Othman was happy with QC’s visit and its evaluation of work progress. He also commended QC’s co-operation to suggest a strategic visualisation for development in order to offer better services to Syrian patients.   
The delegation included Dr Mohamed bin Hamad al-Jaffali al-Na’imi, Al Maha Co director-general; Murad bin Ahmed Yehya, Al Maha Medical CEO in Qatar; Dr Munir Mohamed Hassan Rayyan, Al Maha Healthcare director-general in the UAE; and Salah Mohamed al-Mahmoud, marketing and external affairs director.
The delegation visited the hospital’s different units and viewed the work progress in the divisions. They also observed the methods of storing drugs and other medical disposables as well as managerial procedures.
Al Amal Hospital is the only hospital in the region that offers its services to Syrians coming from Syria or are refugees in Turkey. In December 2012, the hospital opened its doors after QC funded the equipment of most of the hospital’s divisions and paid for its expenses for more than a year. QC’s contribution to the hospital in the past three years has amounted to around QR4,000,000.
The number of beneficiaries in 2014-2015 reached 100,250 Syrians. Some 3,519 surgeries were conducted at the hospital, most of which were critical and specialised. These included orthopaedic, neurological, maxillofacial, general and pulmonary, ophthalmic, plastic, urinary and ENT.
Al Amal Border Hospital was established in Reyhanli near the Syrian border. The establishment of the hospital was funded by QC in co-operation with the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation and the Syrian Society for Humanitarian Aid and Development.
