The Department of Health Sciences (DHS) at Qatar University College of Arts and Sciences (QU-CAS) organised the HealthyLiving campaign recently in collaboration with the QU Sports Science Department.

The campaign, which was conducted by Public Health Programme assistant professor Dr Fahad Hanna, sponsored by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) and their education partner Josoor Institute, aimed to enhance the awareness of healthy lifestyle among the QU community.  

Hamad Medical Corporation participated in the event through various health promotion activities. The event witnessed ample attendance and a large number of activities planned jointly through professional institutes and guest speakers, according to a statement.

The event’s closure involved a brief thank you by Sheila Dohmann, head of corporate social responsibilities at the SC.

DHS head and associate professor of virology Dr Asma al-Thani said: “We, at the Department of Health Sciences, are keen to organise such educational campaigns to enhance the awareness among our student community at Qatar University. This campaign was taken to a greater extent through comprehending our efforts and introducing different awareness activities.”

The campaign meant to educate the students on how to take care of their health through multiple activities such as healthy eating habits, exercise, monitoring the fat contents in the body and avoiding habits that lead to chronic diseases.

Dr Hanna said: “The HealthyLiving campaign is a project assigned to my Public Health students and sponsored by Edventure Partners. The students have done a tremendous amount of work to lead this event to a great success and deliver its meaningful purpose. We are proud of being active members of the Public Health Programme at the Department of Health Sciences. At this point, and after the successful implementation of our ideas and achievement of our goals, we are thrilled to be announced as the second place team by the Supreme Committee.”
