HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday honoured the winners of the first GCC award of excellence.
The Emir met the awarded winners, and praised their efforts to enhance the role of the GCC states. He thanked the GCC leaders for the initiative and the GCC general secretariat for its efforts and the states that nominated their citizens for the award.
He wished the award winners success.
On the occasion, GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani gave a speech in which he expressed his appreciation to the Emir and other GCC leaders for the initiative.
He also thanked the Emir for presiding over the ceremony, which reflected his keen support for efforts aimed at enhancing GCC unity and solidarity. Al-Zayani praised the award winners for their efforts and contributions to the development of their countries.
Following the award ceremony, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani hosted a luncheon banquet at the Emiri Diwan yesterday in honour of winners of the first GCC award of excellence.
