GE Oil & Gas showcases advanced technologies

GE Oil & Gas — Steam Turbine — three-dimensional last stage blades (NXPowerLite).

GE Oil & Gas is showcasing its advanced suite of technologies that are designed to “drive asset optimisation and strengthen operational efficiency” for its customers at the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC 2015) in Doha.
GE Oil & Gas is displaying its ‘Turbomachinery Solutions’ that support upstream operations including the new 16.5 megawatt gas turbine (NovaLT16) for mechanical drive and power generation applications in the oil and gas industry. Developed to meet the industry’s evolving challenges, NovaLT16 combines the best technology from industry-proven GE turbines.
GE Oil & Gas is also presenting a ‘3D demo of the Intelligent Pipeline Inspection’ solution, the industry’s first Industrial Internet solution for pipeline management that provides more complete views to drive better and safer outcomes for customers.
Video displays of advanced surface technologies and downhole technology will also be showcased. Other innovative solutions on display are the Well Stream App, Shallow water tree, and Oculus Rift, a virtual reality system that offers trade visitors an immersive and interactive experience into the Subsea & Drilling solution offerings.
Highlighting the application of Industrial Internet in Qatar, GE recently announced its partnership with RasGas, one of the world’s largest producers of LNG, for the first global deployment of GE’s Asset Performance Management solutions as a pilot. The application is powered by Predix, and created specifically to meet the needs of the LNG sector.
As part of GE Oil & Gas’ commitment to localisation, Qatar Service Centre in Ras Laffan offers repair services for an extensive range of turbine, compressor and related auxiliary equipment services.
To serve the region, in 2010 GE opened the Advanced Technology and Research Center in Qatar (GE ATRC) at the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP). The 20,000 sq m facility focuses on applied research and knowledge transfer in key areas that drive Qatar’s social and economic growth including aviation, oil & gas and healthcare.
Qatar is a “key market” for GE in the Middle East region, where the company has been playing a key role in energy infrastructure development including power, water and oil & gas for nearly four decades.
“Qatar’s focus on the production and export of natural gas, with the country accounting for the world’s third largest proven reserves, is a perfect fit to GE’s competencies in the sector,” the company said in a release.
Putting the spotlight on its Industrial Internet solutions, GE Oil & Gas experts will also take part in thought leadership and technical conferences at the event. Lorenzo Simonelli, GE Oil & Gas president & CEO, will participate on a CEO panel titled ‘Technology & partnerships for a sustainable Energy future’ at the Qatar National Convention Centre today.
