A Filipina died in a fire that broke out in her accommodation in the Muntaza area on Sunday, sources said. Her husband and child sustained injuries. It is not known how the fire broke out. Police investigation is on.

Qatar condemns
assassination
Qatar has strongly condemned the assassination of Aden governor Major General Jaafar Saad and a number of his companions after a car bomb targeted his convoy in Al-Tawahi district, south Yemen, on Sunday. In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry described the incident as “a crime that violates all moral and humanitarian values and principles”, stressing that it would not undermine the will of the Yemeni people or discourage their determination to restore stability in their country. The ministry reiterated “Qatar’s full support to Yemen in all actions taken in order to maintain security and stability”.

Advisory Council
discusses draft budget
The Advisory Council yesterday held its regular weekly session under the chairmanship of its speaker HE Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi. HE the Minister of Finance Ali Sherif al-Emadi, attending the session, explained the government’s viewpoint on the state’s draft public projects of 2016 fiscal year. The council later discussed a report of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee on the state’s draft budget of 2016 fiscal year and decided to refer its recommendations to the Cabinet.
