VPS Group to set up Burjeel Hospital in Al Khor

An 88-bed Burjeel Hospital is to be set up at Al Khor by the Abu Dhabi based, VPS Healthcare Group, officials announced. The premium brand hospital, expected to be operational by early 2018, will be located near the LuLu Group's Al Khor Mall.

An agreement to this effect was signed by Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, founder and managing director of VPS Healthcare and Sheikh Abdullah Ahmed J al-Thani, heir of Sheikh Ahmed bin Jasim al-Thani, during a press conference in Doha.

“We look forward to have Burjeel Hospital in Qatar as this will help serve the growing need for high quality healthcare in the country.With its state-of-the-art technology and medical expertise, Burjeel’s launch in Qatar will propel the healthcare industry to international standards,” said Sheikh Abdullah.

“Burjeel Hospital has won laurels for its medical services in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Oman, and we are confident that the new medical facility will be recognised as one of the leading hospitals in Qatar. This is also an important milestone for the hospital, as we continue our expansion across the region,” noted Dr. Vayalil.

Clancey Francis Po, CEO, Burjeel Hospital said that the construction will start in a month’s time. “The construction is expected to be completed in 12-14 months time. The built up area of the hospital is about 20,000sqm.”

“The new facility will be a tertiary care centre with several specialisations. The hospital will have an oncology department, first in the private sector in Qatar, along with centres of excellence in obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, cardiology and cardiac surgery, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, and reproductive medicine,” continued the CEO.

He noted that the whole facility is centred on the motto of clinical excellence and the art of care. “This premier healthcare facility will provide world-class, specialised medical treatment and services to all communities. It will have all the core medical, paramedical and support services supplied by well-trained, accredited and skilled professionals. Most of the clinical teams are from prominent hospitals and universities from North America, Europe, and other continents,”he added.

Burjeel Hospital will have royal and presidential suites, premier and deluxe in-patient rooms.The hospital’s operating rooms, delivery suites, ICU, NICU, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy will be equipped with the highest standards. Other than Abu Dhabi, Burjeel Hospital has branches in Dubai, and Muscat.
