Ooredoo hosts US students

Ooredoo has hosted a group of MBA students from DePaul University, US, who are visiting Qatar as part of a special programme initiated by the Sheikh Faisal Centre for Entrepreneurship in the Middle East.
As part of the visit, senior executives from Ooredoo answered questions by the students and showed them around the HQ1 headquarters in West Bay.
The Q&A session was hosted by Ooredoo’s Business Development and Innovation team and included discussions on how Ooredoo fosters innovation internally and the company’s role in the local and global economy.
“With Ooredoo developing a global reputation for its smart services and cutting-edge network technology, the students were keen to learn more about the company’s approach to innovation and its contribution to the growth of the knowledge-based economy,” the company said in a statement yesterday.
Ooredoo has placed “significant emphasis” on encouraging innovation in recent years, opening the Ooredoo Advanced Smart Innovative Solutions Lab in Doha and launching a dedicated cross-functional team to focus on innovation issues, the statement adds.
The opportunity enabled DePaul University students to be exposed to the telecom industry and learn more about real-world experiences in the sector.
Yousuf al-Kubaisi, COO of Ooredoo Qatar, said: “Ooredoo believes in the potential of the next generation and we support them through our services, through our initiatives and through the diverse array of job opportunities, training and development programmes for young people.”
Dr Mandy Terc, director, Sheikh Faisal Centre for Entrepreneurship in the Middle East, DePaul University, said: “It was a great pleasure to co-operate with Ooredoo, one of the leading organisations in Qatar. The core value of this initiative is to strengthen Qatar’s entrepreneurial capacity and connect entrepreneurs in Doha and Chicago enhancing knowledge transfer.”
