Harem Al Sultan exhibition extended until Jan 10

The “Harem Al Sultan: The Exhibition” has been extended until January 10, 2016, Qatar Museums announced yesterday.
The exhibition features original décor, costumes and accessories used during the popular television show first telecast in 2011.
From Italy to China, airing in more than 54 countries, the show has reached more than 200mn viewers worldwide.
An adaptation of the historical fiction, the multimedia exhibition displays hyper- realistic statues of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, Ibrahim Pasha of Parga, Hürrem Sultan, Mahidevran Sultan, and Bali Bey, highlighting the artistry and craftsmanship that went into creating the props and costumes.
Set in the 16th century, the TV show Magnificent Century, known in the Gulf as Harem Al Sultan, is based on the life of Ottoman Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent, the longest reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and his wife Hürrem Sultan, a slave girl who became Sultana.
A gift shop is open alongside the exhibition selling jewellery, costumes and other interesting Turkish Ottoman arts and crafts inspired by the series.
The exhibition at QM Gallery Katara is open daily, except Sundays. The timings are Monday to Thursday 10am to 8pm, Friday 3pm to 9pm and Saturday 10am to 8pm.
The exhibition has been brought to Doha as part of Qatar Turkey 2015 Year of Culture, with the support of Dogus Group.
