Slated to be one of the biggest shows of the year, the ‘Circus of Sound’ features some of the most exciting music producers from town and abroad.
The year-ender show will bringing together musicians like superstar DJ Judge Jules and Defected’s leading-lady DJ Rae for a live DJ and vocal set alongside Qatar’s leading DJs Jared McCulloch, Carl Roberts, Pyrokiss and DJ Terio.
Judge Jules first took to the decks in 1987, launching a career that has notched up millions of miles, a legacy of spins of the decks and countless gigs in far-flung destinations, as well as the odd dirty warehouse thrown in for good measure. Jules’ DJ sets are the epitome of what DJing is about, passion and crowd-connection, amazing tunes and a set of hands capable of the most nimble of mixing.
With a list of awards, Jules has earned his place amongst the DJ aristocracy with such accolades as Best DJ (Muzik Awards), No 1 DJ (Mixmag readers’ poll), Best International DJ (Dancestar Awards), and Best Radio DJ at the Smirnoff Dancestars.
Jules also attained the lofty height of No 3 in DJ Mags legendary Top 100 DJs poll in 2000 and has been a constant presence in the upper echelons of the poll ever since.
Awards aside, Judge Jules remains one of the most popular, in-demand and influential figures in dance music, playing some of the most sought-after gigs. As a pioneer of the club scene, Jules continues to grace the decks at many of the world’s biggest and best dance events.
From Gatecrasher and Ministry of Sound to Global Gathering and Creamfields in the UK, Jules is always a firm favourite, as he is at the top clubs and events around the world. They say that you haven’t achieved iconic status as a DJ until you have established yourself in Ibiza, and Jules’ presence there is legendary.
Jules’ podcast has become one of the most eagerly awaited arrivals to the personal playlist of nearly half a million subscribers. His weekly dispensation of the must-have new tunes is fast becoming an institution in its own right.
The music producer has enjoyed a long and influential heritage on radio over a 20 year period, with Kiss FM, then Radio 1, and now his internationally-syndicated Global Warm Up show, winning numerous awards and plaudits from music fans and fellow DJs along the way.
Jules has mixed countless DJ mix compilations for Ministry Of Sound, Universal and Warner Bros, including the legendary MoS Annuals and the Clubbers’ Guide and Trance Nation. Altogether Jules has racked up well over 3mn compilation sales, with many releases reaching Platinum, Gold and Silver status.
Staying true to her house roots, DJ Rae has built a global following thanks to a keen devotion to house music, an unfaltering passion and a healthy dose of idiosyncratic productions. Establishing herself with a succession of quality releases on Defected Records such as the classics Hide U and Can’t Stop with Sandy Rivera/Kings of Tomorrow, and the anthemic Another Day to name a few.
She has also collaborated with the likes of Doorly, Michael Gray, Danism, Studio apartment & ATFC and released on labels Toolroom, Food music, Audio rehab, Urbana recordings and Lost records, proving to be one of the few female artists in the house world to deliver self-penned clubland hits, solo productions and a flawless live show combining powerful vocals with a captivating DJ set.
Based between Ibiza and London, Rae was the first DJ and singer to perform at Ushuaia Ibiza for Defected, with a summer residency in its opening year and, regular sets at the world renowned Pacha Ibiza throughout the summer, leading onto a winter residency and worldwide tours, covering America, Brazil, Asia, and the Pacha festival Amsterdam.
Sherif Nasser aka Terio, found his nascence in Cairo, Egypt. He has been progressing his unique musical designs since 2001.
Growing out of the club scene and realising his talent could be directed towards other more refined genres, Terio now focuses on deeper forms of house music; pushing boundaries by playing with emotive response triggers that range from angelic to jungle.
Hailing from Cairo, DJ Terio has been following music for 13 years. With years of musical interest and research under his belt, he finally stepped up to the turntables in 2010 and in the past four years has fast made a name for himself on the DJ scene, both in his hometown Cairo and his new stomping ground of Doha.
Scheduled to be held on the new-year night at Al-Majlis Ballroom, Sheraton Doha, the Circus of Sound promises to be a real entertainer.
