Qatar supports UN efforts to find political solution in Libya: FM

HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah reaffirmed Qatar’s support  to the United Nations’ efforts to find a political solution in Libya.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), on the sidelines of the International Ministerial Meeting on Libya, held yesterday in the Italian capital Rome, al-Attiyah stressed that the international community should support the upcoming Libyan government and develop guarantees and create a suitable atmosphere for its work.
The Foreign Minister called on all Libyan parties to sign the draft political agreement, citing the importance of a strong and effective agreement that could overcome challenges experienced by Libya on the ground. It should not be an interim agreement that make parties return again to negotiations, al-Attiyah said.
Meanwhile, he expressed his concerns about the growing phenomenon of terrorism and illegal immigration.
Al-Attiyah headed Qatar’s delegation participating in the International Ministerial Meeting on Libya.
The meeting was attended by HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Co-operation Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani and Qatar’s ambassador to Italy Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Maliki al-Juhani.
