Dwyane Wade scored eight of his 14 points in the final quarter, including the go-ahead jumper with 21.9 seconds left in a game-ending 11-0 run Sunday, rallying the struggling Miami Heat to a 100-97 victory over the visiting Memphis Grizzlies.
Chris Bosh scored 22, Gerald Green added 16 and Luol Deng contributed 15 for Miami (13-9) which wiped out a 16-point third quarter deficit to stop a three-game slide.
The Heat trailed 74-58 but kept chipping away and drew to within 97-91 in the final frame with 1:55 to go. But Wade temporarily stunted the rally, with two turnovers on the next two possessions. Miami, however, pulled to within 97-94 on a trio of Green free throws after drawing a foul on a 3-point attempt.
Wade, then, made a driving scoop layup before hitting the go-ahead 19-foot jumper that got a friendly bounce off the rim before dropping through for a 98-97 advantage.
Memphis looked to retake the lead but Wade forced Mike Conley into a bad pass. Rookie Justice Winslow grabbed the loose ball and hit two free throws, giving the Heat a three-point advantage with seven tenths of a second left.
The Heat wrapped up the come-from-behind win when Conley’s three-quarter court desperation heave bounced off the back of the iron as time expired.
But Heat coach Erik Spoelstra wasn’t surprised that he came up with the goods when it mattered.
“Dwyane is uncanny,” Spoelstra said. “He can play absolutely horrible stretches and all of sudden get to the last two minutes and have incredible confidence.”
Jeff Green tossed in a season-high 26 points, while Matt Barnes had 13 with as many rebounds for Memphis’ (13-12) which suffered its largest blown lead of the season.
Knight bounces back
Brandon Knight bounced back from his worst game of the season to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 108-101 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Knight, who missed all 12 shots he attempted—including eight three-point attempts—in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday, drained seven three-pointers to score a team-high 25 points.
“It always feels good to see the ball go through the hoop but I was happier to see us get over the hump as a team,” said Knight, who was 3-for-24 from three-point range in his prior four games.
“I wasn’t going to change the way I was playing ... I’m a confident person and my teammates stick behind me. It happens, I can’t tell you why, but I know I have to continue to be aggressive.”
In Toronto, the Raptors’ fourth straight win came at the expense of the hapless Philadelphia 76ers, who fell to 1-24 with a 96-76 defeat.
The 76ers also lost forward Nerlens Noel to a corneal abrasion in his left eye late in the third quarter, when he was elbowed by Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry.

Oklahoma City Thunder 104, Utah Jazz 98: Kevin Durant exploded for 29 of his 31 points after halftime, and the Thunder (16-8) stormed from 16 down to beat the visiting Jazz for its season-high fifth straight win. Russell Westbrook netted four of his 25 points in overtime as Oklahoma City outscored its guests 8-2. Rodney Hood had 23 points, Gordon Hayward added 22 and Alec Burks finished with 21 for Utah (10-12) which lost to the Thunder at home on Friday.
Toronto Raptors 96, Philadelphia 76ers 76: DeMar DeRozan tossed in 25 points, Argentine Luis Scola added a season-high-tying 22, and the host Raptors (16-9) spanked the league-worst Sixers for their fourth straight win. Jahlil Okafor had 23 points and 14 rebounds for Philadelphia (1-24) which matched the 1970-71 Cleveland Cavaliers for the NBA’s all-time worst start after 25 games.
