Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros (AAB) and Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning Public Parks Department (MMUP-PPD) have joined hands in promoting public parks, environmental protection and traffic safety in the country.
They signed an agreement yesterday to launch the “Seedlings to Your Home” initiative which will help in making homes greener and more sustainable. The project will also engage youth in various educational activities to achieve a safe, clean and green environment.
“We are committed to creating sustainable communities in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030,” AAB managing director Dr Nasser al-Abdulghani said at the signing agreement. He stressed that they support initiatives that protect, preserve and enhance the environment.
The project is also in line with Toyota’s Global corporate social responsibility policy which seeks harmony with people, society and environment, and sustainable development of communities through manufacturing, said al-Abdulghani, who was joined by PPD director Mohamed al-Khoori at the event.
“Caring for the environment is both a moral obligation and a challenge imposed upon each one of us.  This is where we thrive, where we build our families, where our children grow and where we enjoy the beauty of nature and landscapes,” he said.
AAB has donated two vehicles as logistic support to PPD in delivering different varieties of seedlings to the community.  
The PPD senior official said the partnership will help PPD to reach more areas and cope with increasing demands for seedlings.
He noted that providing more options to residents will further entice them to plant more, beautify their surroundings and help preserve the environment.
Al-Khoori said they will be collaborating with AAB on various projects and initiatives promoting environmental care and preservation “to achieve our goal to make Qatar a large community park.”
PPD has earlier announced that a number of public parks will be opened in the coming months to serve the growing population in Qatar.
The new parks will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for visitors, especially differently–abled people, huge playgrounds, enough eateries and parking areas, and other facilities.
