Qatari tribes are busy finalising preparations for the upcoming National Day celebrations on Al Refaa Steet.
The tribes are getting ready to receive visitors from among all inhabitants of Qatar to share with them the joy and pride associated with this special occasion, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
Most of them have already scheduled a number of events that focus on the original local heritage and culture. These include the traditional sword dance, poetry and Arabic music.
The Al-Murra and Yam tribe has finalised most of the preparations at its celebration site, with a number of tribesmen involved in the process. Abdullah Mursal, head of the organising committee of the tribe’s celebrations, said the tribe will put up several models of heritage buildings and gates. He expects work at the site to finish “one to two days” ahead of Qatar National Day, which is celebrated on December 18.
He said celebration of the special occasion was a source of joy and pride for all members of the tribe and a way to express their love for the country.
“It is a tradition inherited from our ancestors and passed on from generation to generation to mark this day and make it a source of joy for all,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, the Al-Suhool tribe has scheduled a poetry recitation event alongside other activities to mark the day at its site. The tribe has invited all residents in order to share the celebrations with them.
Abdulla al-Sahli, a member of the tribe, stressed that all members have been keen to prepare a site that reflects Qatari history, especially in terms of its architecture, and the poems that will be recited on National Day will focus on patriotism and love for the country.
Similarly, the Bani Hammad tribesmen have been closely supervising the ongoing work at their site to get it ready on time.
Hassan Yousef al-Hammadi, a tribesman, said the members are keenly awaiting the special day to express their love for the country. He noted that the preparations began one month before the event to present something distinguished.
The tribe has prepared a special traditional gate made of aluminium to give its site a
distinctive feature.
The Lekbasah tribesmen will present a number of patriotic poems on the occasion, which will be recited for the first time. Khamis al-Kubaisi, a member, said the tribe’s celebrations will include a number of surprises for its visitors.
