QFA president praises efforts of members in annual meeting

QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani presided over the Annual General Assembly Meeting yesterday.

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) held their Annual General Assembly Meeting yesterday where several key issues were discussed. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani, QFA president, presided over the meeting and he praised the efforts of the QFA members in improving the level of football in the country.
The QFA president also said that the increased presence of QFA personnel in the Asian Football Confederation was a good sign for Qatari football. Saoud al-Mohannadi is the Chairman of AFC Competitions Committee and Chairman of AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Organizing Committee. Whilst Hani Ballan, a member of QFA board, CEO of Qatar Stars League (QSL) and Chairman of QFA Referees Department is the Deputy Chairman of the AFC Refereeing Committee.  Also a number of QFA and QSL officials have been chosen as members in other AFC committees, such Mansour al-Ansari, QFA General Secretary & CEO, Ahmed al-Harami, CEO of QSLM Competitions & Football Development, Tareq al-Neama and Fahad Thani.
Sheikh Hamad also praised the efforts of the association in pursuing the establishing of a Sports Court here in Qatar. This idea was suggested by the QFA three years ago and once it is established then there won’t be any need to go to the CAS, said the QFA president.
He also believed that the setting up of the players association had been a good step and had played a big role in helping Qatar perform well in the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign and for the Asian Cup.
With regards to the complaints regarding the level of referees in Qatar Stars League, the QFA president said that while constructive criticism was always welcome, one shouldn’t cross the line. Excessive criticism wasn’t acceptable he stressed
