Local flavours at Shell’s National Day celebrations

Hundreds of Qatar Shell employees have participated in a special National Day celebration.
Two events took place to mark the occasion, one at the Pearl Gas-to-Liquids plant located in Ras Laffan Industrial City and the other at the company’s headquarters in Doha.
At Shell, the celebrations included cultural activities, a display of Qatari crafts, folklore assembly and presentations presented by Qatari staff to educate their colleagues about various aspects of Qatari culture. There was a specially catered
traditional breakfast.
The celebrations also included different activities such as falconry, henna artists and traditional poetry recitals. Special National Day gifts, including flags and scarves, were distributed at the event to join in the country’s celebrations
tomorrow.
Michiel Kool, managing director and chairman of Qatar Shell Companies, said: “We are honoured to take part in the festivities of Qatar National Day 2015, a day that brings together all those who live in Qatar, both citizens and residents alike, to celebrate unity, loyalty and shared pride in the nation’s many accomplishments.
Qatar Shell employees represent over 61 nationalities and this event provided the diverse group an opportunity to learn more about the history and traditions of their host country from some of the more than 300 Qataris now working for Qatar Shell, according to a statement. Several expatriate employees came from Doha and Al Khor to participate in the event.
