The weekly Cabinet meeting, presided over by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, has welcomed the formation of an Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism under the leadership of Saudi Arabia.
The Cabinet viewed the alliance, which comprises 34 Islamic states including Qatar, as “a significant and positive step in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations whatever its sources and justifications”.
Following the meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud announced that the Cabinet has welcomed the outcome of the 36th session of the GCC Supreme Council, held in Riyadh on 27-28 Safar 1437 AH, corresponding to 9-10 December 2015 with the participation of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The Cabinet said that the Riyadh Declaration and the summit’s final communique reflect the solidarity of the GCC and its keenness to ensure security, stability and prosperity of the region.
The Cabinet praised the efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz  al-Saud of Saudi Arabia which have resulted in the summit’s positive outcome.
The Cabinet also reviewed the Paris agreement on climate change, which was adopted by representatives of 195 states at the close of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) that was held in the French capital from 30 November to 12 December, and in which HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani took part.
The Cabinet said that the agreement reflects the common will of the countries in confronting the global warming and the protection of the planet Earth from the impact of climate change.
Yesterday’s Cabinet meeting approved a draft decision by the Minister of Environment on the issuance of regulations for the registration of qualifying parties or those awarding quality certification.
The draft regulations included detailed rules related to its enforcement on qualifying parties or those awarding quality certification in accordance with the international standards. Those parties are prohibited from practising any activity in the state, before receiving an authorisation for such activity by Qatar General Authority for specifications. The practice of any activity not listed in the licence is also banned. The regulations explained the documents required for the practice of the activity, term of the registration and the fixing of services fees.
The Cabinet reviewed the following issues and took the appropriate decisions:
1. A letter by HE the Minister of Environment on a proposed draft decision for establishing the Qatari Construction Code Committee (Qatar Construction International Specification 2018).
2. A letter by HE the Minister of Justice on proposals for the removal of obstacles hampering the convening of the Complaints Committee of Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA).
