Qatar has been draped in the flag colours of white and maroon with the National Day festivities and patriotic fervour moving to its pinnacle.
The excitement is evident among residents as everyone is gearing up for the momentous occasion tomorrow. National Day preparations and festivities are in full swing across the country.
Hypermarkets and shopping malls are registering brisk sale of National Day articles with some even announcing promotions for Qatar souvenirs.
Darb Al Saai ground, which is brimming with large number of people, has been showcasing the rich and varied heritage of the country since December 8. The whole area resembled a sea of humanity yesterday with more and more families visiting the venue and the stalls of various organisations. The venue provides a peek into country’s rich culture as well as the huge strides of advancements made in several areas.
The Doha Corniche, which will witness the ceremonial parade tomorrow, is already set for the show with necessary arrangements. A large area facing the Corniche has been decked up with temporary seating for people to watch the parade while the palm trees around the area have been festooned with illumination. The spectacular parade will take place from 8am to 8.40am. Several large LED screens have also been set up at the area to enable the people to watch the events closely. In addition, there will be musical fireworks in the evening.
The Ministry of Interior has organised a number of  sports and entertainment  activities in co-ordination with several expatriate communities. These events will take place in Wakrah Sports Stadium, Asian Town, The Barwa Workers Recreation Complex, Al Khor and Rayan Sports Club. The entertainment programmes will involve over 7,700 students. With the weather expected to be cool and perfect for the occasion,  large turn out is expected at all the venues.
