The Philippine embassy in Doha continues to co-ordinate with Qatar authorities for the issuance of documents needed to repatriate the bodies of the three Filipinos who died in a fire that engulfed their flat in Al Muntazah.
“I understand they have finished the autopsy which will serve as a reference for the police investigation report. I expect more developments next week,” Philippine ambassador Wilfredo Santos told Gulf Times.
“I met with the eldest daughter (Maria Angela Veronica), her uncle and aunt on Tuesday and assured them of my support,” he said.
Three of the five members of the Pingul family – Rafael Paule, Chona Rian, and Micaela, died of smoke inhalation at their residential unit on the fourth floor of their Hamad Medical Corporation accommodation early on December 7.
One of their children, Rafael Lorenzo, survived the tragedy and was discharged from the Hamad General hospital the next day.
The eldest daughter, Maria Angela Veronica, was in the Philippines when tragedy struck the family.
Relatives in Doha are taking care of the two surviving children.
