PSG’s al-Khelaifi voted Ligue 1’s favourite chairman

By Our Correspondent/Paris

Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO, Nasser al-Khelaifi, was voted Ligue 1’s favourite chairman by Internet users on francefootball.fr.
He finished top of the list of nearly 30,000 votes, and came in ahead of his Lyon counterpart Jean-Michel Aulas and Montpellier’s Louis Nicollin. Internet users were invited to vote from early December on the website of the famous French football weekly, and they chose Nasser al-Khelaifi, the most successful chairman in Paris Saint-Germain history (9 trophies: 3 Ligue 1 championships, 2 Coupes de la Ligue, 1 Coupe de France, 3 Trophées des Champions).
“I am very honoured to top this list. I take it as a recognition of all the work we have been doing at Paris Saint-Germain for the last four and a half years, at every level of the club, from the players to the coaches and all the administrative staff at club headquarters. We work towards our objectives with great ambition and humility, and we were very satisfied to be rewarded last season with an historical quadruple.”
“I am also extremely delighted to work alongside several chairmen, on many important plans regarding the future of French football. Since 2011, I have met with all the Ligue 1 clubs’ chairmen, starting with my good friend Louis Nicollin, and created trusting relationships with many of them. I have learnt a lot alongside them. I admire all these passionate chairmen who fight every day for their clubs, and, on a more personal note, I am proud to be the head of a club that has become an ambassador for French football throughout the world.”
“For our clubs’ supporters, we need a strong and attractive league. We all have to strive to help French football grow. The Ligue 1 needs to become more and more appealing in order to attract great players and turn itself into a showpiece for the sport, that people all around the world will want to follow. With the other chairmen, we are determined to reach this goal.”
