Al Sailiya, riding high on four back-to-back wins, will be tested against QSL leaders Al Rayyan today but coach Sami Trabelsi says his ‘boys are ready’.
Rayyan have 36 points from 13 games while seventh-placed Sailiya have a tally of 19.
“For Sailiya, it will be a difficult game. We are playing the leaders, a team with only one defeat this season. The players are already motivated for this game so it will be their attitude during the game that will decide the result,” Trabelsi said on Saturday.
“We have tried to resolve the mistakes that we have seen in the last game and hopefully we will be ready for this big game. They have strong individual players who have helped create this strong image of Al Rayyan.”
“For me, the biggest work is done by Sebastian Soria and we will have to be careful of him. We won our last two games and we will be looking to benefit from that confidence,” he said.
“We are playing against a team that has scored a lot of goals and we will have to play well. But at the end we have to ready for this game, prepare well on the tactical level and show a good image of the team during the match,” Trabelsi said.
Trabelsi said Al Sailiya should not be taken lightly. “Rayyan defeated us in the first leg but at that point we were not in a good position,” he Trabelsi.
“The new players still hadn’t settled in. This game will be different.
We are doing better now. We know better about Al Rayyan, we know where their strengths are. I think we are better prepared for this game than we were for the first leg,” he said.

‘find a balance’
“We need to find a balance. We can’t have too many games in a short period and we can’t also have a long gap between the matches. That will spoil the rhythm of the league and if we want to improve as a league then we will have to strike the right balance,” Trabelsi said.
Al Rayyan coach Jorge Fossati said come Monday and his side will target only one thing: a win.
“We finished the first half of the season with the last game. But because of this schedule, really nothing has changed. We will continue with the same plan or better. Like I have always said, it’s very simple for us. This is the most important game of the season for us,” Fossati said on Saturday.
“There are very few coaches who will not play the same starting eleven, especially if the team’s performance and results are good. Al Sailiya have done well in the last couple of games. We respect them and we did that even in the first game.
“But we trust in our players and believe in them. We will go into this match, looking for a victory,” Fossati said on Saturday.
“We will try to continue with the team that we can field at this moment. Because not all players are ready to play. (Victor) Caceres will miss this match. Until now we are not sure about the availability of some other players. So we do not know what our starting XI will be,” the experienced Uruguayan said.
