Al Ahli coach Zlatko Kranjcar knows his side must snap their six-game winless streak in the clash at Al Ahli Stadium.
Al Ahli coach Zlatko Kranjcar knows his side must snap their six-game winless streak in the clash at Al Ahli Stadium.
“We now start the second part of the championship and we are hoping to come back to the type of form that we are used to,” Kranjcar said yesterday.
“We have injuries to key players but we believe that players that will get their opportunity to show their qualities. Injured players is what could destabilise us but we hope that will not be the case and we will be able to win matches,” Kranjcar added.
“In our game against Al Rayyan, our players showed good quality. It will give us confidence that we are getting back to our style of play.
Since I have taken over, we have had good results against El Jaish. So we have a right to believe and hope that we can achieve a positive result,” Kranjcar said.
“There is no additional pressure. We want to come back to positive results again. We are playing against a team that is in good shape and it will be a difficult game for us. That’s the only pressure that we are facing,” he said.
El Jaish seek consistency
Meanwhile Jaish will look to produce a dominant show against Ahli, coach Sabri Lamouchi said yesterday.
Jaish last week beat Al Sadd 4-2 to overcome indifferent form in the last six weeks when they lacked consistency.
“We know how difficult it is to play against Al Ahli. We had bad results before we won against Al Sadd. Now it is time to confirm what we did in the last match against Al Sadd,” Lamouchi said on Monday during a pre-match press conference..
“We know that Ahli had bad results in their previous games but it was the same for us,” he added.
“We still have injuries and absences for this game. I am not focussing on this but on preparing my team for the next game. We want to show that we have put the bad period behind us and are now looking at positive results from the matches ahead,” Lamouchi said yesterday.
