The Ooredoo Village, an integral part of the company’s celebrations for Qatar National Day, received more than 70,000 visitors from across Qatar, the company said yesterday.
The exhibition, which was held at Katara - the Cultural Village, was part of Katara’s National Day events sponsored by Ooredoo.
The Ooredoo Village, which was open on December 18 and 19, included a host of activities for all ages, such as demonstrations, traditional music (Arda), live cooking, technology and a section for crafts.
As an educational point for children and expatriates, the company exhibited various swords and traditional items such as a “dala” (coffee pot) to showcase the strong historic background of Qatar.
To entertain families Ooredoo, created a desert experience with free camel rides and falcon handling, as well as a Qatari majlis serving drinks such as Arabic coffee, Kahwa and tea.
In order to highlight the contribution of Ooredoo towards the growth of Qatar’s economy, the event also included an exhibition that featured all of the company’s SIM cards produced from the first day of operations, as well old models of telephones.
Ooredoo also held an art display during the event, which invited famous artists from within Qatar to create a piece that captured the company.
The Ooredoo Village was launched as part of the #WeAreAllQatar campaign, which included an inspirational song and video for Qatar National Day, and free local calling for all Hala and Shahry Smart customers.
