Rota focus on challenges faced by Syrians in education sector

Executive director of Reach Out To Asia (Rota), Essa al-Mannai  participated in panel discussions at the opening ceremony of the Watan 4th Annual Conference to discuss the educational challenges for Syrian people. Sponsored by Qatar Charity, the conference took place from December 10 to 12 in Istanbul.
The three-day conference discussed the educational challenges faced by the Syrian refugees, along with the difficulties encountered by teachers in improving education in Syria, the importance of assessment to evaluate the current situation, and how other nations can contribute to improving the sector and providing possible solutions.
The Watan Organisation had invited al-Mannai and Farooq Burney, director of the Fakhoora initiative, a subsidiary of global initiative Education Above All, to participate in the education workshop. Watan aims to reach the best mechanisms and methodologies for the implementation of the project “Education in Crisis”, with the objective of training 5,000 teachers and reaching 100 thousand children.
Speaking about Rota’s participation in the conference, al-Mannai said: “Rota’s priority is to help children and youth receive a high standard of education. We are here today to reaffirm our continued support to the Syrian people and to give them the peaceful future they dream of.”
Held under the slogan “Together”, the conference took place with the participation of 350 leaders and decision-makers in the institutions of civil society in Syria and around the world, with the mandate to discuss the challenges facing the Syrian people and try to find innovative solutions to meet these challenges.
