The Montreal Canadiens acquired goaltender Ben Scrivens (pictured) from the Edmonton Oilers on Monday in exchange for forward Zack Kassian. 
The Canadiens needed goaltending depth with the absence of Carey Price, who has been out since Nov. 25 after he sustained his second lower-body injury of the season. 
There is no timeline on when Price will return to the ice. Montreal has used rookie Mike Condon and backup Dustin Tokarski in his absence. 
Scrivens, 29, was with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, but has 129 games of NHL experience and was the No. 1 goalie for the Oilers in 2014-15. 
Kassian, who was suspended without pay while he was in Stage 2 of the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program this season, was reinstated Dec. 15 and immediately placed on waivers by the Canadiens.

The Nashville Predators activated forward Mike Fisher from injured reserve. 
Fisher, 35, has missed the past 11 games after sustaining a lower-body injury on Dec. 1 against Arizona. He has seven points (five goals, two assists) in 24 games in 2015-16. 
The Predators also reassigned forward Colton Sissons to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.

The Detroit Red Wings recalled left winger Eric Tangradi from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. 
Tangradi, 26, has skated in 24 games with the Griffins this season, leading the team and tying for fifth in the AHL with 13 goals.

The Chicago Blackhawks recalled defenseman Erik Gustafsson from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. 
Gustafsson, 23, has recorded 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 27 games with Rockford this year in his first professional season in North America. He also has three assists in six games with the Blackhawks.

The Anaheim Ducks recalled defenseman Shea Theodore from the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League. 
Theodore, 20, has recorded 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) and 14 penalty minutes in 27 games with San Diego this season. He has never played in an NHL game.

The NHL will host the first-ever Outdoor Women’s Classic in an abbreviated exhibition game on the outdoor rink at Gillette Stadium, the league announced. 
The game will be part of the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic festivities in Foxborough, Mass., including the game between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens on New Year’s Day.
