Some 50 boys and girls aged between 10 – 12 took part in a very special training session Tuesday morning held on the Aspire Zone grounds. Under the watchful eye of Laurent Blanc, Papus Camara and the coaches of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy, they were able to hone their technique and take inspiration from the pros who are taking part in the Qatar Tour before taking on Inter on 30 December.
The kids had been selected by four of Paris Saint-Germain’s local partners (QNB, Ooredoo, beIN Sports and Emirates).
“On our various tournaments, we can see that Paris Saint-Germain is really taking on an extra dimension, and that’s a good thing,” said Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc. “It is important for young people first and foremost to want to play football, and also to wear the Paris Saint-Germain jersey. To let you in on a little secret, once I retire from professional football, if I still have the energy, I want to coach kids – that’s what I find most interesting. They’ll stand there and listen to you. It’s when you can make the most progress, and when you really appreciate all that you can do for them.”
“It was great!” said Lylia, one of the girls taking part. “We watched the Paris Saint-Germain training session this morning then afterwards, it was our turn to train with Laurent Blanc and Zoumana Camara. It was a unique opportunity since there are very few kids who get this chance. It was a really good experience.”
About the PSG Academy
The Paris Saint-Germain Academy is a football school that is open to children – both boys and girls – aged 5 – 16. It is run at 45 different centres open around the year, and in 2015/2016 it is holding over 120 seasonal camps in 12 countries. 8,000 kids will be able to take part, half of them in camps run outside France.
The centres are host to over 110 coaches who have been trained by the Club, who offer top-level training and management based on the values of excellence, fun and fairness, ensuring that those taking part are motivated and fulfilled. The training offered by the Paris Saint-Germain Academy is that of a major European club with a global reputation. Regardless of whether they attend throughout the year or at a camp during their school holidays, the children who take part get quality coaching based on the Paris Saint-Germain philosophy.
The Paris Saint-Germain Academy has enjoyed real success at its 11 centres in the Paris area, four elsewhere in France and a further 30 in five different countries around the world (Brazil, USA, Canada, Morocco and India), reflecting the growing attraction of the Club both domestically and abroad.
The Paris Saint-Germain Academy is also part of the Club’s international development strategy, and is a way of sharing the Paris Saint-Germain experience with younger generations throughout the world.
