Microsoft has recognised 47 educators from Qatar as Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Experts, joining more than 5,600 educators globally.
Qatar now has the highest number of educators enrolled in the programme for the Gulf region, according to a Microsoft official.
Each year, Microsoft selects innovative educator experts to exchange ideas, test new approaches and learn from each other through a global community dedicated to improving learning outcomes through technology.
Ahmed Ameen Ashour, regional education lead, Microsoft Gulf, said: “This year has been exceptional for Qatar with 47 educators awarded compared to four last year. This represents an increase of more than 1,000% and is the result of establishing strategic partnerships with the ministries of education, which are transforming the region into a successful knowledge-based community. Qatar now has the highest number of educators enrolled in the programme for the Gulf region.”
As part of the recognition, selected representatives from Qatar will have an opportunity to attend the Microsoft Exchange event taking place in Budapest, Hungary, in March 2016, which will be attended by more than 300 MIEs worldwide.
The event is a global platform for MIEs to share their insights with Microsoft on new educational products and tools as well as exchange best practices.
Muna al-Kuwari, director of the Training and Educational Development Centre at the Supreme Education Council, said: “This initiative is well-aligned with our strategy to develop national legislation to encourage technology transfers, support innovation and establish global contractual partnerships in the education sector. We value Microsoft’s support and look forward to a long-term association with the company.”
Microsoft Qatar general manager Naim Yazbeck added, “With the Microsoft Innovative Educator programme, we are able to assist educators in creating a knowledge-based society in Qatar.”
