Live circus and music to welcome 2016

An electrifying night of dramatic acrobatic, aerial and circus acts, interspersed with live singers, contortionists, acrobalancing, fire dancing and stunning visuals projected onto huge screens, rounded-off with two hours of uplifting vocal house music courtesy of DJ Smokin Jo.
All this and more is coming to at ‘Parade’, the show at Al Silia Ballroom at Grand Hyatt Doha on the New Year Eve.
“We came up with the idea of Parade to give our guests the extraordinary end of year celebration they deserve. With many exciting live performances, we want to offer a different and unique New Year’s Eve party in town and that’s because we do things differently at Grand Hyatt Doha,” Christoph K Franzen, General Manager Grand Hyatt told Community.
Some of the performers include songstress Dani Milano, who tastefully blends swing, blues and show tunes in her unique interpretations of classic song and party numbers, taking the audience back in time to the early 20th century when Vaudeville dominated the American cabaret circuit.
Dani’s passion for music and the performing arts developed through the years, beginning with classical vocal training in Milan. Today Dani is in great demand on London’s underground jazz and cabaret circuit, for her smooth voice, warm dulcet tones, sparkling personality and stylish demeanour.
There is also Teresa Callan, who originally worked as a dancer until she discovered aerial acrobatics whilst on a dance contract in Japan. After practicing her new-found talent in Tokyo, Vancouver, Montreal and New York, she set about completing her professional training in London.
Teresa now performs as a fast-moving aerialist and hula-hoop artist with an intense passion for movement. She is in great demand on London’s nightclub circuit, including the much talked-about The Box Soho where Teresa performs often.
Teresa performed as a flying Mary Poppins in the London Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony and showcased her aerial hoop skills in the Paralympics 2012 Closing Ceremony.
Michael Standen is an international circus artist who has enthralled audiences of all ages in Australia, China, Russia, UAE, Thailand, Europe, Japan, America and UK. His acrobatic and aerial displays routinely leave audiences spellbound.
A former British national gymnast, Michael graduated from The National Centre of Circus Arts - a highly respected London-based provider of elite circus training specialising in hand-balancing, trapeze and acrobatics. Nimble, fun and dynamic, Michael contorts his body and uses his acrobatic skills to tease and tantalite the audience, as well as subdue them with contemporary routines of beauty.
Michael performed for Queen Elizabeth II of the UK at the Centennial Royal Variety show in 2012, has performed for royalty in Moscow and Dubai, and just last year showcased his talents at the opening ceremony of the G20 summit in Brisbane.
Lucy Francis originally trained as a dancer, gymnast and high diver, before moving into aerial circus and acrobatics which she has been performing for 15 years. As well as being a professional aerialist and acrobat, Lucy is an established circus trainer and choreographer at London’s AirCraft Circus, with more than 10 years of experience across a wide range of ages and disciplines. She will also perform.
Also performing is vocalist David Tughan, who studied at London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Singing jazz and swing with his unique contemporary edge for twenty years now, David brings to life classic songs from the Great American Songbook with ease and style, and has worked worldwide with some of the industry’s best and brightest musicians.
Adrian Martel’s multi-faceted aerial and fire performances are so visual and thrilling that he routinely brings events to a complete standstill. Adrián started acting as a professional performance artist in 1996 in Spain after many years of dancing.
Today his performances combine elements of dance, aerial circus, fire and acrobatics to create sensational and show-stopping acts. He has wowed crowds in cities all over the world, including Madrid, Barcelona, Moscow, Amsterdam, Dubai, Antwerp, London, Berlin, Cologne and Cannes. Adrian will be the lead aerial circus performer at Parade. He will also perform.
The DJ for the event will be Smokin Jo, who is said to be one of the most talented DJs to emerge from the British dance music scene. Her cutting edge sound has carved her a niche in clubland and music television worldwide.
Smokin Jo’s incredible career has spanned more than 20 years to date, during which she has played at many of the world’s top clubs, including Aghea (Tokyo), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Warung (Brazil), Cavo Paradiso (Mykonos), Crobar (New York), Ministry Of Sound (London) and others.
