A temporary closure will be in place for about four months from Sunday (January 3) on the south-bound carriageway of Al Shamal Expressway to Doha for approximately 500m at Al Huwaila Interchange (N66), as shown in the map.
During the period, traffic is to be diverted to the opposite side of the road (north-bound carriageway), which will be divided to accommodate both directions (to and from Doha), with two lanes in each direction.
The speed limit will be reduced to 60kmh throughout the diversion route to reduce risks to road users and the project’s workforce, according to an Ashghal communique.
This closure is required to carry out the construction works of a proposed bridge which forms part of the North Road enhancement project.
