HMC continuing care group receives global accreditation

The Continuing Care Group of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has received the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation for long-term care, following an intensive certification process.
The JCI accreditation process recognises the high quality healthcare services offered by HMC’s Continuing Care Group and highlights the ongoing development of a world class public healthcare system for the population of Qatar.
Facilities within HMC’s Continuing Care Group that are now JCI-accredited include the Enaya Specialised Care Centre, Enaya Continuing Care Centre (Muaither 1 and 2), the Rehabilitation Services and Psychiatry Department under Rumailah Hospital, and HMC’s Home Healthcare Services.
HMC’s chief of Continuing Care Group, Mahmoud al-Raisi, said that the JCI accreditation marked a milestone for these specialised services offered by HMC.
“The JCI accreditation process is rigorous and achieving this accreditation involves months of hard work and co-operation from various departments. This is a great illustration of excellent teamwork and commitment to quality, and provides evidence of the maturity of our healthcare services,” said al-Raisi.
“I am proud of our team, who work extremely hard every day to ensure that our long-term patients receive the highest standards of care and we are all delighted with this accreditation,” he added.
The final certificate was issued last week following a survey in October where JCI representatives visited and appraised the services. JCI has specific standards for long-term care facilities and the survey conducted involved a full week of inspection with two surveyors, according to al-Raisi.
The Continuing Care Group is not the first of HMC’s services to receive JCI accreditation. All of HMC’s hospitals are JCI-accredited, a certification process that is renewed on a three-yearly basis.
JCI surveys and certifies hospitals and healthcare facilities around the world. In total, there are over 800 JCI-accredited organisations in 90 countries.
