The Advisory Council yesterday held its weekly regular meeting of the 44th ordinary session under the chairmanship of its Speaker HE Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.  
At the meeting’s outset,  HE the Secretary-General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen read out the agenda which was agreed upon. Then the Council endorsed the minutes of its previous session.  
The meeting discussed a report presented by the Services and Public Utilities committee on the rise of rental prices. The council agreed to present its recommendations to the Qatari cabinet.

President of Myanmar Thein Sein met Qatar’s ambassador Hassan bin Mohamed Rafi al-Emadi, on the sidelines of Myanmar’s celebration of Independence Day.  
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them.

13 food outlets
closed in
December

The Doha Municipality’s director issued decisions to close 13 food outlets in various areas in the municipality in December last year. The outlets were closed for violating the Law No 8 of 1990 amended by Law No 4 of 2014.
The Doha Municipality health inspectors visited 2,097 outlets last December to inspect the extent of their compliance with the law’s regulations and provisions. During these inspection raids, they found 161 violations to health requirements.
The Law No. 8 of 1990 on Regulation of Human Food Control and its latest amendment No 4 of 2014 gives the director of the municipality, or the competent department, the authority to close food establishments which violate the provisions of the law.

64 consumer
violations in Dec

Ministry of Economy and Commerce issued 64 different consumer violations during December 2015 as part of its intensive search campaign in the local market.
The campaign aimed at ensuring the compliance of commercial outlets and retailers in the country with the stipulations and regulations of law no 8 for 2008 regarding consumer protection.
Most of the violations were regarding improper tagging of items on display, selling or displaying expired products, violating the terms and condition for the licenses for sales, promotions and special offers, and posting fraudulent or deceptive information about the items on display.
The penalties for such violations include administrative closure of the outlet for various periods, and fines ranging from QR5,000 to QR30,000 according to the nature of the violation.

Qatar Armed Forces General Command has announced that the marine shooting range, located near Fasht Al-Hadid, will be active from January 31 until February 4 from 7am to 1pm daily.    
The Qatari Armed Forces General Command has advised visitors to the area to take precautions.
