Man gets life for killing sister, bid to murder mother
A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an Arab man to life imprisonment for intentionally killing his sister and attempting to kill his mother.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that the defendant was also convicted by the court for possession of sharp weapons and fire arms without license and drug consumption.
The court sentenced him to six month and three years in jail and a collective fine of QR20,000 for both crimes as part of his sentence.
The case started when a young man, a friend of the defendant, visited his house in the absence of the latter and was received by his sister.
The convict called his friend when he returned home and blamed him for meeting his sister alone at home contrary to the approved social norms.
However, later he started to doubt the behaviour of his sister and asked to talk to her alone in her room. He locked her in and started to stab her with a knife until she died.
In his rage, he went downstairs and tried to kill his mother before another sister managed to restrain him and called the police. The mother survived but sustained severe injuries.
