Lekhwiya grab top December honours

Lekhwiya head coach Djamel Belmadi has been announced as the QSL coach of the month for December 2015. The Algerian tactician has guided his side to five consecutive wins, including impressive 4-0 victories over Al Ahli and Al Gharafa.
Whilst during the five game period, Lekhwiya have registered 18 goals. It’s not only in front of goal that the Red Knights have been impressive. They have only conceded three goals, two of which came in the comprehensive 6-2 victory over Al Wakrah.
Lekhwiya have been resurgent in recent weeks, returning their title winning best. The statistics provided by Prozone form the basis of the judgement criteria for the player and coach of the month. This is reflected in the average amount of passes by the side over the five week period. The Red Knights averaged 496 passes per game, which is way above the 400 pass average for QSL sides.
Whilst controlling the ball was crucial for the side, Lekhiwya also exhibited considerable flair dribbling the ball on average 20 times a game, almost double the average of 11 dribbles for a QSL side.
Powered by the dynamic midfield of Yousef Msakni, Vladimir Weiss and Nam Tae Hee the current QSL champions have had an impressive unbeaten period, which now stretches back to seven QSL games.
Lekhwiya’s impressive month was topped off with Belmadi scooping the QSL coach of the month award. The Red Knights will be looking now to maintain this good run of form as they remain in the hunt for silverware this season.

Player of the month:
Youssef Msakni
Lekhwiya midfielder Youssef Msakni has been announced as the QSL player of the month for December. The Tunisian international picked up the award at his sides training ground. The award caps a fantastic month for the current QSL Champions, after head coach Djamel Belmadi picked up coach of the month award for December.
Statistics provided by Prozone form the basis of the judgement criteria for the player and coach of the month. The creative midfielder racked up an Impressive performance ranking of 92.5 over the five games. Not only this, but Msakni also contributed five goals and had five assists during the period for his side.
Physical statistics which are provided by Prozone also suggest that Msakni excelled over the five games.  In terms of sprinting distance, the midfielder ran a total of 302 meters per game this eclipses the QSL positional average distance of 218 meters per game.
Whilst the technical statistics also suggest that the tricky midfielders average of 3.2 shots per game inside the penalty area, which dwarfs the QSL positional average of 0.4 per match. Such a high number of shots in the area would have contributed to his haul of five goals, including two goals in the 4-0 humbling of rivals Al Gharafa.
Lekhwiya are currently in third spot in the QSL, they will be hoping that this good vein continues into the second half of the season, as they look to chase for honours domestically.
