An  Asian expatriate received a jail sentence of 20 years and a fine of QR 400,000 followed by deportation by a Doha Criminal Court for illicit drug dealing and consumption.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that the defendant, a Bangladeshi, was convicted for possessing marijuana and hashish for both personal use and trade. He was arrested while trying to sell  marijuana to an undercover police agent at Al-Rayyan Family Park. Both the accused and the agent agreed on the delivery place and time. The transaction was conducted under the surveillance of the police.
As the defendant was trying to hand over the drugs to the agent, police forces arrested the dealer and seized from him some cigarettes stuffed with hashish mixed with tobacco. Subsequently, he was escorted to his house, where police found some small amounts of hashish and marijuana, besides a number of such cigarettes.
Blood tests of the arrested showed that he was also taking hashish.
