The sixth edition of the Qatar Motor Show (QMS) will feature more than 45 brands this year, from January 28 to February 1 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
Dubbed as “Explore the World of Motion,” the annual event will showcase the latest auto and performance trends; top sports, luxury and mid-range automotive models; and branded lifestyle goods on a 17,000sqm space.
The area is 13% higher than the space used at the Qatar National Convention Centre last year while the number of participating brands hasalso increased by 18%.
QMS is organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA); Elan Group, a leading media and entertainment company (formerly known as q.media); and Fira Barcelona, a global event organiser and leading trade fair institution in Europe.
Organisers estimate that the event is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors who will have the opportunity to engage in interactive indoor and outdoor activities for all ages.
“Some of these activities will include motor sports, music at the fan zone, test drives and also special guests talking about the recent technology in automotive,” Roger Abi Haidar from Elan Group told reporters.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday at Lusail International Circuit, Haidar said the event will also unveil “new ideas” which may possibly be about concept cars.
“It will be the first time to be revealed in the world but we do not want to disclose the details,” he stressed.
A parade of unique and exciting cars (latest models and classic ones) will also take place around West Bay during the five-day event.
Haidar said they want visitors to experience something new and unique at QMS this year besides taking “selfies” and photos of vehicles.
The venue, located in the heart of Qatar’s central business district in West bay (near City Center Doha), is also expected to provide enough parking slots with its 2,800-capacity underground parking. However, parking will not be free of charge.
In a press statement, QTA’s exhibitions director Hamad al-Abdan said: “We are delighted to begin the year with one of the most anticipated shows in the nation’s events calendar.”
“As the business events industry has evolved over the years, we have worked with our partners in the private sector to create dynamic and interactive offerings for our visitors,” he noted.
Organisers said they had been visiting other motor shows in the region and co-ordinating with other organisers to stage a unique and totally different QMS in the country.
Al-Abdan added that QMS’ key partners this year include Commercial Bank as the official bank sponsor and Marriott Marquis City Center Doha as the official hotel.
