HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani arrived in Moscow yesterday evening on an official visit to the Russian Federation.
HH the Emir and his accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at the Vnukovo International Airport by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov, who is also the Russian president’s special representative for the Middle East and North Africa, Qatar’s ambassador to the Russian Federation, Saud bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud, Russia’s ambassador to Qatar, Noor Mohamed Julov, and members of the Qatari embassy.
The Emir was accorded an official welcoming ceremony upon his arrival at the Vnukovo International Airport.
He will hold talks with President Vladimir Putin today.
“The talks will focus primarily on comprehensive development of trade and economy, investment, energy sector and humanitarian co-operation between Russia and Qatar,” the Kremlin’s official website reports.
“The two leaders will have a detailed exchange of views on current international affairs, particularly the situation in the Middle East and North Africa,” according to the website.
The Emir’s visit to Moscow comes a month after HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah met his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in Moscow to discuss a range of bilateral and international issues.
