Lexus has announced the launch of the performance-oriented GS F four-door sports sedan in the Middle East. The GS F is the first new ‘F’ series sedan model since the launch of the IS F in 2007.
The GS F embodies the philosophy of the ‘F’ series, which stands for fast dynamic response, high efficiency and seamless performance on everyday roads in addition to racetracks.
According to chief engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi, “With the GS F, our aim was to develop a car that combines the versatility of a sedan with the agility and dynamic character of the ‘F’ brand. A car that is fun to drive every day, whether it is on a busy street or a winding road, regardless of one’s driving skills.”
“To enhance its dynamic performance and hone its handling, our team also spent countless number of hours on some of the most famous tracks of the world, including Fuji Speedway in Japan and the Nürburgring in Germany,” added Yaguchi.
Takayuki Yoshitsugu, chief representative, Middle East and North Africa Representative Office, Toyota Motor Corporation, said, “True to the spirit of all the ‘F’-line models, we developed the GS F to create a sense of excitement for our customers whenever and wherever they drive it.”
The GS F is based on the partially revamped GS model; the 5.0-litre V8 engine features enhanced response and engine-revolution smoothness, while chassis stiffness has been improved through cutting-edge technologies.
The vehicle comes equipped with a variety of standard features to ensure both excellent driving stability and an enjoyable ride, including Torque Vectoring Differential, Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management that incorporates an Expert mode and an Anti-lock Braking System that utilises vertical acceleration sensors.
The interior and exterior of the GS F fuse simplicity and elegance, and capture the luxurious sportiness unique to the ‘F’ series. In addition, the vehicle utilises the Lexus Safety System+ active safety package to provide a multi-faceted approach to active safety, further enhancing the safety and peace of mind of its occupants. It includes a Pre-Crash System, and can automatically apply the brakes if needed.
The V8 motor produces 471HP at 7100rpm and 54.0kg-m of torque at 4800-5600rpm. The power is effortlessly handled by the 8-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission that offers smooth shifts, excellent drivability, and instantaneous acceleration while delivering good fuel economy.
The Active Sound Control combines the natural noise of the vehicle’s engine in a new, advanced four-speaker system that provides more powerful engine and exhaust noises. It has a 17-speaker, 750-watt Mark Levinson surround system, aided with GreenEdge speaker technology that enables more than double the sound output with the same amount of power.
