The patrons of the expedition are HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, president of Qatar Olympic Committee; Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq al-Said, Minister of Culture and Heritage, Sultanate of Oman; and the Prince of Wales in  the UK.
The expedition replicates a similar journey that was made across the world’s largest sand desert Rub Al Khali in 1930. The expedition was made by the British citizen, Bertram Thomas, and Omani Sheikh Saleh bin Kalut al-Rashidi  al-Kathiri.
The present adventure has so far completed 41 days as of yesterday and the team was 199km away from Doha and might have entered into the last leg of their expedition. It is expected that the team will be received by several Qatari youngsters at the Qatar
