MoI holds Drive Safe Campaign

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) launched a week-long ‘Drive Safe Campaign’ in association with Galfar Al Misnad Company.
More than 550 drivers and equipment operators took part in the programmes organised at work locations in Umm Salal, Shahaniya, Dukhan, Industrial Area and Nuaija.
The awareness programme included lectures on the common mistakes committed during driving and risks to drivers and road users.
First Lt Fahad Sheraida al-Abdullah, awareness officer at the Department of Traffic, spoke on the important features of road safety. In the event of minor accidents the vehicles should be moved to the nearest parking places whereas the drivers who refuse to move their vehicles will be imposed fines. 
The officer underlined the risks of crossing red signals, importance of following speed limits, besides imparting how to drive at roundabouts and signals. 
The lectures were given in English and Hindi. 
Galfar executive director Satheesh G Pillai said the company will continue to work for refreshing the awareness levels of its employees in order to develop a safe driving culture.
