Kahramaa begins conservation law awareness campaign

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the National Programme for Conservation and Energy efficiency (Tarsheed), has launched an awareness campaign aiming at dissemination of the provisions of the New Conservation Law No.20/2015 modifying a few clauses of Conservation Law No.26/2008.
The awareness campaign, ‘Bad habits cost’, is focused on conveying conservation messages and its provisions and clauses to penalise those responsible for violation of the law as well as offering solutions to prevent
violations.
The conservation and energy efficiency department in Kahramaa, through Tarsheed has been associating with all sectors of the society to make the awareness campaign meaningful for the successful execution of the law. The campaign is in place at the malls, TV, outdoor, social media, mosques, schools, government entities and on radio.
Through the campaign Kahramaa has initiated a lot of efforts to stop the extravagance of country’s vital resources of electricity and water, thus ensuring that the country’s resources are protected for future generations and goals envisaged in Qatar National Vision (QNV 2030) are timely
implemented.
As per the conservation law, using potable water for washing cars or cleaning building yards by a hose or any other flushing tools, leaving the damaged or broken parts of the water internal inlets (taps, pipes) causing water leak, and leaving the outdoor lights, switched on between 7am and 4.30pm constitute apparent violation of the law of the land with various fines that could reach QR20,000 for the first violation.
