QREC participates at Asian Racing Conference

Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) general manager Nasser Sherida al-Kaabi addressed the delegates at the 36th Asian Racing Conference at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai yesterday.
Al-Kaabi, the chief of the Qatar delegation, made a presentation on Industry Profiles during one of the business sessions.
Making his opening remarks, al-Kaabi thanked all the delegates for being part of the conference in Mumbai and extended a special thanks to the Asian Racing Federation chairman Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges and Asian Racing Conference organising committee chairman Dr Cyrus Poonawalla.
After a video presentation about Qatar and the highlights of Qatar’s horse racing industry, al-Kaabi spoke about the ongoing development and future plans for horse racing and equestrian across all levels.
The QREC general manager drew focus on Qatar’s involvement in horse racing and the breeding industry on a national and international level.
“We are very proud of our support to Qatar’s growth in racing, breeding and the investment in our facilities,” he said.
“Internationally, we were honoured by the announcement that one of our flagship races, the Qatar Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe, in partnership with France Galop, was crowned the 2015 Longines World’s Best Horse Race.”
Qatar’s involvement in prestigious global events was also highlighted in the partnership with Goodwood racecourse and the tremendous success of the first Qatar Goodwood Festival held in the UK in July 2015.
Al-Kaabi revealed a strategy for the coming years to bring the competition to Doha and exuded confidence that they could reach their goals with the support of their partners.
Concluding his presentation, he extended a warm welcome to the delegates to visit Doha during HH Emir’s Sword races between February 26 and 28.
Apart from the general manager, QREC was represented by Racing secretary Abdullah Rashid al-Kobeissi, Media head Jawaher Sultan al-Suwaidi, chief steward David McGillivray and Thoroughbred Stud Book deputy keeper Lal Mani Yadav.
