Ooredoo fibre customers receive speed upgrade

Ooredoo has launched a major speed upgrade for fibre customers, boosting its top-level packages to deliver the fastest fibre speeds in Qatar for free.
The speed increase, which will be rolled-out in the coming weeks, will see Ooredoo fibre customers on the 50Mbps and 100Mbps plans see their packages upgraded, significantly enhancing speeds and performance.
With the upgrade, all 50Mbps plans will receive a double speed increase to 100Mbps, while existing 100Mbps plans will be boosted to 300Mbps – the fastest home fixed line connection ever offered – free of charge.
Ooredoo Qatar CEO Waleed al-Sayed said: “We have promised to continually enhance all aspects of the Ooredoo Supernet, and this latest speed improvement gives our customers the fastest home fibre speeds in Qatar. We are building a truly world-class network for all of Qatar and will continue to deliver incredible home fibre upgrades for our customers.”
With a 300Mbps speed, customers can download a two-hour, standard-definition movie (1.5 gigabytes) in less than 40 seconds; and a two-hour, high-definition movie (5 GB) in 2.2 minutes.
The speed upgrade is free and permanent for home fibre broadband and Next Generation Mozaic TV customers who are connected to the Ooredoo Fibre network.
“Alongside the need for a standard home connection, more and more of our customers are streaming videos, playing online games and connecting their smart phones, tablets, and connected TVs to the Wi-Fi in their homes,” said al-Sayed.
“To reflect this change in daily data consumption, we have delivered a speed upgrade that will truly enhance the customer experience and their digital lifestyles,” he added.
The Ooredoo fibre network is available across Qatar, with more than 258,000 homes and businesses currently benefiting from super-fast Internet and next generation services.
Since its launch in 2011, the fibre network has not only transformed the broadband Internet market but also the digital entertainment industry in Qatar, enabling customers to enjoy Next Generation Mozaic TV with high-definition programming and a range of advanced features.
Prospective customers can view the fibre availability map on Ooredoo’s website. The map allows customers to check if they are in a fibre-ready “Green” area and shows customers how to apply for a fibre upgrade.
Full details of all plans, pricing and offers is available at www.ooredoo.qa, on the “At Home” section.

Dear Sir, what about upgrading the connection from copper to fiber??. we got the connection last year January, 2015 there was no fiber available that time. they advised us, it will be automatically upgraded to fiber once it is availabe. fiber is available since last year May, 2015. nothing updated automatically. then after we have made several request for the upgrade, but we haven't heard any positive feedback from ooredo. every month we are paying almost equivalant to 25 Mbps connection but we are not enjoying the service as it is extremly slow due to the copper line. we were approaching ooredo service centers to attain the new fiber connection but they said no more fiber connection can be provided only 4G+ but we dont have enough 3G coverage even. how we are supposed to take that service if there is an issue in 3G. as a customer i just shared my experience here. hope to get positive response. Thank you
